Yoga Therapy Tip Quickie: Step Wide

Side Step

Today's quickie tip teaches you how to improve your ability to bend forward without wrecking the spine.A Wide-legged Forward Bend not only helps improve the flexibility and strength of the legs but also improves how the pelvis moves on the thigh bones.  If you can't reach the floor without rounding the back use trusty wooden blocks or a chair.Bonus tip: this is my favourite pose to improve weight bearing and strengthen the arches of the feet.  Yummy foot love! How to:

  1. Step into a comfortable "V"

  2. Hinge forward at the hips while you keep tje back straight

  3. Keep even weight between the feet and between the backs and the fronts of the feet; lift the inner arches

  4. Place the hands on blocks (as shown) or to the floor without rounding the back!

  5. Hold for a minute and when you're ready to come out of the pose bend the knees and inhale to lift back up with a straight back.
